63alfredsonpic Having earned much fame for Let the Right One in, the coming of age vampire tale, Swedish director Tomas Alfredson is turning his attention to the adaptation of John Le Carre’s Cold War novel Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

The book followed a retired British intelligence officer who was asked to return to his old agency to discover which of his former colleagues was a Russian spy. A mini-series was made back in 1979, starring Alec Guinness who shot the project between his work on Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.

Peter Morgan has worked on the script. He is known for his work on Frost/Nixon and The Queen.

This film marks Alfredson’s English-language debut. They hope to start filming next year.

Paramount Pictures has attained big screen rights to John Le Carre’s espionage thriller “The Night Manager.”

Brad Pitt’s Plan B is producing.

The espionage story follows the night manager of a European hotel who is recruited by intelligence agents to infiltrate the network of a dangerous international arms dealer.

Robert Edwards, who wrote and directed the 2006 political satire Land of the Blind, is signed on to adapt. He is a former Nicholls fellow and a former intelligence officer during the Gulf War.
