Ohhhh wow. Okay, folks, sit down for this one, because this is some SWEET news that’s already got me hunting in the couch cushions for ticket money.
Seems Jerry Bruckheimer’s got it in his head to try and do a remake of the old PC game Shattered Union, in which Washington D.C. gets nuked and the remaining states collapse into their own regional nation-states, with the Europeans insisting that we get our act together. Meanwhile the Russians are using the resultant melees to retake Alaska.
It’s a pretty complex idea, and putting Jerry Bruckheimer in charge of it assumes that major portions of the backstory will be smoothly glossed over in favor of more bang-bang. I say “major portions”, of course, this isn’t a MICHAEL BAY movie, after all–there’ll be some story in here too.
But is this too narrow a concept? Is Bruckheimer counting on the gamers only to show up in droves? Will that be enough? We’ll be waiting quite some time to find out-the project is still in development.

If you’ve followed the career of Jerry Bruckheimer, you know he’s not exactly the type of guy to, say, stand around waiting for something to happen. The guy’s career is downright massive, and widely varied. But something he’s been trying to do for nearly two decades now is finally about to come to pass–he’s working on converting the novel Apaches into a movie.
This particular quest has left a whole lot of poeple downright stymied, but Bruckheimer’s got the chops if anyone does. See, the novel itself is about a bunch of cops who go rogue and pull some serious vigilante time. Cops make great vigilantes because they have a pretty good understanding of the law and police procedure, you see.
Hopefully, this is the time that Bruckheimer manages to pull it off, because Apaches sounds like it could be a pretty awesome title, once they get everything worked out.

Jerry Bruckheimer loves to produce movies. He was at Comic-Con
2009 where he nabbed the feature rights to the graphic novel “World War Robot.”
The robot war story, written by Ashley Wood, recounts a war from a diary written by both participants of the war.
The bulk of the story places most of the attention on a dwindling band of humans and robots facing off in a battle on Earth, the moon and Mars. The story gets political along the way with very violent battles and intense human/robot drama, but there is a lighter side with comic undertones.

In today’s uncertain world with fragile political situations and whatnot, one thing is certain: Hollywood sequels! And surprising no one is Jerry Bruckheimer and Nicolas Cage, who jointly announced that a third National Treasure film is in the works.
This news comes from the duo as they both attended the Walt Disney Showcase yesterday. It was noted that most of the original cast will be back and that director Jon Turteltaub will be back behind the camera.
While no plot details were announced, the first sequel hinted at a possible storyline regarding something mysterious in the President’s diary. It is still unconfirmed though.

Johnny Depp’s film schedule is filling up fast with Disney. They made deals with Depp agreeing to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film and play Tonto in a big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger each film produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
Mentioned earlier at Screenhead Depp will also star as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s version of Alice in Wonderland.
Alice in Wonderland comes to the movie houses 2010, will be shot using 3-D and performance capture technology similar to that used for Beowulf.
