Agnes varda
“The Beaches of Agnes” stars Agnès Varda, an early member of the French New Wave that has worked with Catherine Deneuve, Jane Birkin, Chris Marker, Alain Resnais, Jean-Luc Godard, Michel Piccoli, and Philippe Noiret as well as Harrison Ford and the Black Panthers. This film is a collections of stories of her childhood in Brussels and adolescence in occupied Paris, Los Angeles in the ’60s, and life in her 14e arrondissement Paris neighborhood.
Her husband/filmmaker Jacques Demy, who passed away in 1990, is an enduring presence. Varda is a wife and mother, a feminist, urban artist and nature-lover but most of all, she is a woman in love with the cinema. Scheduled to release July 1, 2009.
