Likely Story has attained Crown’s upcoming political thriller “The Amateur American” for a big-screen adaptation.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, J. Saunders Elmore’s debut novel follows a young American expatriate down-on-his-luck in France whose translating job for a shadowy Arab powerbroker draws him into violent political intrigue, corruption and murder.

Ross Katz, producer of In the Bedroom, is attached to adapt the novel and direct. Elmore’s novel hits bookshelves next summer.

Apparently, “The Amateur American” is being touted as this generation’s “Three Days of the Condor.”  The story is swift, smart, and complex with a young man stumbling into a murky world of contemporary terrorism/counter-terrorism. The mechanics of deception override the politics.
