I love the whole “vampires suck” pun. I really do. And I use it as often as I can because the whole thing is just so apt. And then I discovered that Robert Downey Jr., who apparently got off the crack and got on with his career, is taking a whole new role–the vampire Lestat.
Oh yes…The Vampire Lestat will be coming our way on the order of eventually. But this isn’t the first time an Anne Rice novel has been converted to film, either–Lestat was also played by Stuart Townshend back in that godawful tripe Queen of the Damned. Chances are they’ll start at the beginning of Rice’s vampire hegemony and start with Interview With The Vampire.
I can’t deny that Robert Downey Jr.’s got some real acting chops, especially since his Ally McBeal days. His time as Iron Man has been downright amazing, and even I’m prepared to be at least provisionally interested in a new Lestat piece. Provisionally, mind you–this is the kind of vampire movie I generally hate. But it’s worth keeping an eye on!
No, really. He DOES.
Folks, in case you’re not currently aware, the first five minutes of Iron Man 2 have been leaked to the internet. And director Jon Favreau would really like you to watch and give him some feedback on his Twitter.
I caution you, the footage is not that great–it’s on YouTube and it’s in very much bootleg condition. But the director seems happy about this. It’s kind of odd to think of a director as being happy about a leaked bootleg, but considering that it’s footage from a convention, it’s not really that much of a leak.
However, I can say this much. Based on the footage that I’ve seen so far, this ought to be a really, REALLY awesome movie. If you weren’t already looking forward to Iron Man 2–and chances are, if you saw Iron Man, you were looking forward to Iron Man 2 about five minutes before Iron Man ended–you should be after seeing this footage.
And this may have been the point all along.

Let’s hear the cat whistles and wolf growls! Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow with red hair, and she is rocking in that black dress, right boys?
In this production still for Iron Man 2, Johansson is Natasha Romanoff, Black Widow’s alter ego and Tony Stark’s new personal assistant. Natasha and Pepper Pots (Gwyneth Paltrow) fight over Tony, bringing a little bit more drama to the movie.(Source)
The man who had started it all will be appearing once again in Iron Man 2. Stan Lee, the creator of such legends as Spider-Man and Iron Man, will, as usual, appear in the upcoming Marvel film. He has been in every recent Marvel film till date.
He will be playing the famous Larry King in the sequel, interviewing Tony Stark on “Larry King Live”. He will be questioning Stark about his new, modified “black” Iron Man suit.
Lee will also be a hidden character in the upcoming game Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2, playing a senator.
The Iron Man sequel is due out next year.
Whiplash is awesome looking!! Mickey Rourke is looking crazed with less metal than Iron Man. He even speaks Russian. The apparatuses on the end of his arms are whips used to crack a sharp blow at Iron Man. Get the complete story at USA Today.
