I am sure with baited breath and sleepless nights you were concerned whether Brad Pitt would be officially casted in Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Bastards, a Tennessee hillbilly and eight Jewish-soldiers take on the Nazis.

It’s official today!  Pitt is set to take on the lead role as Lt. Aldo Raine.  Other casting is in the works including Natassja Kinski and Simon Pegg.

Somebody else is talking about being casted in Tarantino’s film Inglorious Bastards. B.J. Novak might be fighting Nazis, too.

“The Office” star is in talks to play one of the soldiers in Inglorious Bastards.  Tarantino’s film had been gestating a cast for some time, now.

Novak is expected to play PFC Utivich, described as a soldier of slight build who comes from New York.

Lots of talking is going on to cast Quentin Tarantino’s film Inglorious BastardsHostel director Eli Roth is talking about playing a baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter – ouch!

Production begins this fall in Europe.

Brad Pitt, as reported earlier, is still talking to play Aldo Raine, leader of a rogue band of Jewish-American soldiers who wreak havoc on the bad guys in Nazi-occupied France.

Roth is in talks to play Sgt. Donnie Donowitz.

Roth played a small role in Tarantino’s Death Proof segment of Grindhouse and directed one of the phony movie trailers that played during the film. Tarantino was an executive producer and lent his name as a presenter on Roth’s breakout directing hit, Hostel.  Sounds like friend to me.

Tarantino is expected to formalize his cast shortly. Hurry up!!! Enough Talking!!

Tarantino had planned to meet with Leonardo DiCaprio for the role of SS Col. Hans Landa, just decided the role should be played by a German actor.

Quentin Tarantino’s WWII project Inglorious Bastards has finally found the star Brad Pitt is in negotiations to play Lieut. Aldo Raine. I did mention it here a couple of weeks ago that Pitt was Tarantino’s ideal actor for the Lieutenant. (A source says rumors that Tarantino is also courting Leonardo DiCaprio for the role of Col. Hans Landa are false.) After three weeks of very public negotiations — and after everyone with a Hollywood zip code has seemingly seen a copy of the script — sources say the movie will land at Universal Pictures.

Entertainment Weeky reported the deal making has been handed off to the studio’s lawyers, and while nothing is set in stone, it appears that the studio will partner with Tarantino and producer/domestic distributor Harvey Weinstein to co-finance the film and handle international distribution.

039_20759~Quentin-Tarantino-Posters With Tarantino set on shooting Inglorious Bastards later this year, the film’s script has already been reviewed for public consumption by Latino Review and NY Mag’s Vulture.

Both reviewers rave about the WW2 project, revealing some of its basic storyline which is broken up into five chapters. I’ll leave it up to you to read up on the story on either site, but personally I find it pretty cool, especially the third chapter.

The film is scheduled for release sometime next year, with shooting set to begin later this year.

11864147101752942 Moving on from the Grindhouse project, Quentin Tarantino is reported to be working on a remake of WW2 movie Inglorious Bastards. This was revealed through an interview the filmmaker did with the film’s director Enzo Castellari for the original film’s upcoming DVD release.

The interview reveals that Tarantino has finished the script just “last month” and that the film will be split into two just like Kill Bill. He also notes that the film will keep much of the original’s setup and that he has “decided to write the characters with no specific actor in mind.” Tarantino is also said to be considering “an epic slow motion scene,” though I don’t see how well that would work out.

The original film had a group of hardened criminals escape custody during WW2 and decides to make their way to Switzerland, fighting off both the Allies and Nazis to get there.
