Amelia is directed by Mira Nair and the trailer defines the director’s work. The movie is expected to be released Oct. 23, and not only stars Hilary Swank as the female aviator, but Richard Gere as Earhart’s husband, George Putnam, and Ewan McGregor as her lover Gene Vidal. Recent Academy-award nominated actress Melissa Leo is set to star in the independent drama Betty Ann Waters along with Hilary Swank, Minnie Driver and Sam Rockwell.
Shooting began this week in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Tony Goldwyn directs the film that focuses on an unemployed single mother who saw her brother begin serving a life sentence in 1983 for murder and robbery. Certain of his innocence, she achieved a law degree and contested the conviction with DNA evidence, resulting in her brother being freed in 2001.
Swank’s playing the title character while Leo portrays the only woman officer at a local police station who pins the murder on him.
Hilary Swank is taking on a role as a doctor who moves into a Brooklyn loft to become stalked by her landlord. The Resident is a thriller to start filming in May with first time feature director Antti J. Jokinen from a script he wrote with Robert Orr. Re-write was done by Erin Cressida Wilson
Directing film isn’t new to Jokinen per say. He has directed videos with prestigious talent: Will Smith, Beyonce, Eminem, Korn and Celine Dion. He is also the co-founder of Solar Films, Finland’s largest TV and film producer, and directed and co-written several TV series in his home country.

The plot focuses on a single mother who worked her way through law school in order to free her brother, who was wrongfully convicted of murder.
Swank plays the title role in the true story of a high school dropout who would not surrender her belief that her brother, Kenneth, had been framed.
While raising kids and waiting tables, she worked her way through college and law school to could represent her brother after he’d used up his attempts to appeal his conviction through public defenders.
An interesting note: Goldwyn said his first meeting on the project occurred shortly after the woman’s brother was released in 2001. He’ll never forget the date, because the meeting was held in New York on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 and was cut short by news of the World Trade Center terror attacks.
Hilary Swank plans to produce Emily Giffin’s 2005 debut novel, “Something Borrowed,” which will be developed through her 2S Films banner with business partner Molly Smith as a potential starring vehicle for Swank.
The story focuses on a Manhattan attorney who becomes involved with her best friend’s fiancé following her 30th birthday.
The feature deal includes rights to Giffin’s sequel, “Something Blue.”
Hilary Swank is going French with a bestselling book “French Women Don’t Get Fat.” Swank is producing a film from this book, however starring in the film may not occur. Swank’s idea is to adapt a romantic comedy about the manager of a champagne company who learns some tough life lessons.
The book was first published in 2004; non-fiction book became a bestseller for writer and former Champagne Veuve Clicquot topper Mireille Guiliano. The book offers insights on how French women manage to stay slim despite enjoying such calorie-rich fare as wine and pastries. Yum!
