In the spirit of today’s holiday (Happy Halloween) I thought you might want to check out some new behind-the-scenes clips Screenhead just received to gear up for the release of Hellboy II: The Golden Army (on DVD and Blu-ray 11/11).

The first clip gives inside look at the special effects involved in bringing the characters to life.

This clip touches on the casting choice for Princess Nuala and her storyline in Hellboy II.

It first I didn’t like this clip, but it gets better and funnier. It is funny. The expletives I could do without.  Have a good laugh.

hellboy2_bg On ComingSoon is an interview with Ron Perlman, the fiery demon Hellboy himself in the movies, talking about the success of Hellboy 2, which took $34.5 million in its opening weekend.

The interviewer also asks Perlman how he felt about being included in Universal’s classic museum where Hellboy is right across from Gregory Peck in To Kill a Mockingbird.

Most interesting, however, is when Perlman is asked about a possible third film. "Well, I certainly think that it’s not without the realm of possibility at this point," he said. "I can only imagine the discussions that are taking place in some other dark room right now."

Well, there you have it, a third movie might happen if the executives want it to. It would be very interesting to see how del Toro handles the trilogy; in fact, I’ve heard that he hopes to finish it in a very interesting way.

Weekly Box Office Score

No surprises at the box office this week.  We all knew Hellboy II would be at the top, but still Hancock is not too far behind in second place.  Perhaps Hellboy is a little too mature for the younger audience.

No surprises here with Hellboy 2: The Golden Army hitting the top of the box office this weekend with Hancock in the number two spot.  Journey to the Center of the Earth came in third, which is understandable by the limiting 3-D theaters; but still, just looking at the numbers, you know those theaters were packed.     The totals are for July 11, 2008 - July 13, 2008. (*millions)

Hellboy 2, reportedly, has more monsters than any other film in recent memory of Variety’s film critic. Some thirty-two monsters compared to five from the original Hellboy.  I saw the trailer for Hellboy 2, and these monsters are creepy, icky CGI creations that I am not capable of describing them realistically. You will just have to see for yourself.  I am sure that will be the case because the buzz is Hellboy 2 going to win the box office this weekend.  Yikes!!

If you know my posts about horror films,  I don’t watch them, you won’t see me in the theaters for Hellboy II. I love the director but — no thank you — it’s too scary for me.

Hellboy fans hold on to your synapses because in about a week and a half this movie is rolling.

Meanwhile take a look at the latest trailer — I hear it’s awesome.  Did I see it? What do you think?

Hype on Hellboy 2 is reaching fever pitch as the film nears release. To celebrate the coming of the movie, Adidas is releasing two pairs of limited edition Hellboy sneakers that is sure to seduce even the cheapest of collectors.

“Adidas Originals created a jaw-dropping statement with the Stan Mid – Hellboy in cooperation with Dark Horse Comics & Mike Mignola. The black shoe has the image of Hellboy printed on its side in red and extra details on the inner and outer sole, like a collection of three extra footbeds, plus lace jewels, a mini-comic and unique tongue branding.”

“The Forum Mid-Golden Army takes the court standard and mixes the appropriate trio of gold, black and white with Hellboy lettering across the Velcro strap, with an image of Ron Perlman as the titular demonic anti-hero on the outsole and footbed.”

Both the sneakers will come in a specially designed shoe box and different tissue wrappings. A total of 5,000 pairs will be released worldwide and sold through selected partner stores. They will cost $100 for the Mid-Golden Army and $150 for the Stan Mid-Hellboy.
