Wirkola talks Witch Hunters: lots of blood and guts, definitely R

DeadSnow7 The “Hansel and Gretel” story isn’t a typical fairytale story – it was violent and had quite horrific themes of cannibalism and death. Building on those themes is the upcoming Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters film that will follow the siblings as they become merciless witch hunters.

Dead Snow helmer Tommy Wirkola is set to direct. He noted that story wise, the film will be “an action-adventure horror movie that finds Hansel and Gretel fifteen years [after their first witch incident] and they’ve grown up to become merciless witch hunters.”

Wirkola isn’t afraid of the R rating, noting that there will be definitely be lots of “blood and guts”, adding that “first and foremost, it’s an action movie… with horror elements… some dark humor as well.”

The film is yet to enter the production stage.
