ON THE LOT: Director/producer Brett Ratner ("Rush Hour 3," X-Men 3: The Last Stand) serves as a judge on the new moviemaking competition series ON THE LOT premiering Tuesday, May 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2007 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: Mike Yarish/FOX Thank the gaming gods today; in fact, go out and buy some music games as a tribute to the merciful gods, as Brett Ratner, the director who is obsessed with a particular rhythm game franchise, has been denied the right to make a movie based on the Guitar Hero franchise.

“I’d really like to do it, but they’re not letting me… I expressed my interest, but because it’s such a success, it’s like now there’s no reason to make a movie about it,” he said quite disappointedly. “The game is wish-fulfilling, everyone can be a rock star… I might prevail… I usually do.”

Ratner is currently working on further spoiling the Beverly Hills Cop series with a fourth entry and making a film adaptation of the God of War game franchise.

Grauman's Chinese Theatre In today’s silly movies news, Brett Ratner, the guy behind Rush Hour and Red Dragon, has revealed that he wants to make a movie based on the plastic guitar swinging video game Guitar Hero.

Ratner, speaking to MTV News, said, “I would love to do a Guitar Hero movie, if Activision would ever let me. I’m trying to convince them.”

And what exactly would the plot be? Some kid wanting to become a rock star and does so South Park-style by swinging a plastic axe? "It could be about a kid from a small town who dreams of being a rock star and he wins the Guitar Hero competition."

Holy shit, I was right!

Rattner is currently attached to direct the videogame film adaptation of God of War.
