Brett Ratner, infamous for movies such as Rush Hour and X-Men: The Last Stand, may have left the film adaptation of video game series God of War.

He is reported to be focusing on the Chris Tucker and Eddie Murphy team-up vehicle Trump Heist as his next project.

It is not known what state the God of War film is in currently. However, this means that the project will be switched to someone else – might be a godsend, might be a disaster – or Ratner himself might come back to it later.

God of War 3 is currently in development exclusively for the PS3.

Having been denied a Guitar Hero movie, Brett Ratner has finally confirmed that he has officially scored a new game-film adaptation – God of War. His attachment to the film was a rumor that emerged in May.

Based on the popular action game by Sony, the film will follow series protagonist Kratos as he embarks on a journey to kill the Greek god of war Ares, facing mythological beasts and whatnot in the process.

The project joins the Hugh Hefner biopic and Beverly Hills Cop 4 on Ratner’s schedule.
