Disney has picked a relative newcomer to the silver screen, Garrett Hedlund, to star in the studio’s sequel to Tron the 1982 cult classic.  The sequel was called Tron 2 and then Tr2n.  After all that, the sequel is now just called Tron like the original film.

Hedlund credits start with 2004’s Troy and then progresses with ensemble films including Peter Berg’s Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers, Eragon and Georgia Rule.

Hedlund is set to play the play the lead, a man who is pulled into the world of a computer and retraces the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn.

Jeff Bridges is reprising the role of Flynn, who was a computer programmer but ended up as the CEO of a software corporation.
