Talking to The Playlist, director Jon Favreau revealed that 20th Century Fox has exercised its option for Emily Blunt to star in Gulliver’s Travels, basically barring her from showing up in the upcoming Iron Man sequel.
She was set to star in Iron Man 2 as Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow.
Development on the film is still going on, with the writers still “slaving away on a hot script.” Hopefully it will be “hot” enough and they will get another awesome actress to step into the shoes of Black Widow.
Entertainment Weekly reports on a rumor that Scarlett Johansson is in discussions with Marvel Studios to replace Emily Blunt in the upcoming Iron Man sequel.
She would take on the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, also known as Black Widow. Blunt, who was initially attached, may not star due to her commitment to 20th Century Fox’s Gulliver’s Travels.
The site’s sources say Johansson has already met with the filmmakers and is interested in the role, though it all depends on Blunt’s schedule as her agents are trying to get both films into her itinerary.
To be so lucky to have casting conflicts with two mega-movies as Emily Blunt talks with Twentieth Century Fox to join Jack Black and possibly Jason Segel in Gulliver’s Travels, the Rob Letterman-directed reimagining of the classic Jonathan Swift tale.
The conflict is that Blunt had already been offered the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, but that may not be able to play the role because of Gulliver’s Travels. Fox holds an option on the actress that was part of her deal when she co-starred in The Devil Wears Prada, and the studio may appeal to it to see that she takes part in the giant tale according to Variety.
What a problem! The actress to be so lucky, some never even get close to an audition.
The scheduling experts are trying to work it out so she can play both roles. Alas! That won’t be easy because the schedules overlap. Gulliver’s Travels is set to shoot in the U.K. in late March; Iron Man 2 is expected to begin shooting in early April in Manhattan Beach, Calif. Read the rest of this entry »

Amy Adams is mystical. She is wonderful in Sunshine Cleaning trailer. Adam’s scenes are so poignant with Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin. Enjoy! The trailer is funny — have a good laugh.
