Seriously, after the misery tour that X Files: I Want To Believe was, does anyone really think that there’s going to be a third X Files movie? Well, David Duchovny sure sounds interested. What, doesn’t cable pay that well? Anyway, Duchovny’s on record with the following spectacular brain fart:
“As far as the X-Files movie I’d like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy. I think it’s natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we’ll see if we get to do it.”
This would be about the only way they could, considering the beating that the last one took for having absolutely nothing to do with the alien-oriented conspiracy and having more to do with organ transplants and sleazy cash grabs.
Oh, and just in case anyone thought that Duchovny could actually express an original thought on the second X-Files movie, check THIS out:
“I was happy with it… I have nothing but respect for [X-Files creator] Chris Carter and the writing staff.”
Oh noes! Run for the hillz! Cancer Man got Mulder and is making him repeat clearly obvious propaganda about the quality of a pile of crap movie. Well, that was that minor nervous breakdown averted, so look for a third X-Files movie to probably come out about the same time hell freezes over.
Following Californication, X-Files star David Duchovny is set to star in The Joneses, along with Demi Moore, Gary Cole and Amber Heard.
The film is a dramedy that aims to provide commentary on society. It will center on a picture-perfect family that moves into a suburban neighborhood, being loved and envied by all. However, they are actually a commissioned fake family put together by a marketing company to introduce new luxury products to neighborhoods around the world.
Duchovny will play the father, a man undergoing a crisis of confidence as he is living a lie. Playing his fake wife will be Moore, a career-driven woman who struggles with her growing feelings toward her fake husband. Heard will play their fake daughter who is trying to seduce her fake dad while looking for a rich man.
It has been written by Derrick Borte, who will also direct the film.
CBS Films has acquired Jess Walter and Mark Steilen’s comedy Born to Rockreports the Hollywood Reporter. The project is centered on a group of struggling, aging rock musicians who, due to a mixup that catches a record exec’s attention for a children’s song written on a lark, find success as a Wiggles-type children’s band.
It is being produced by David Duchovny and Tea Leoni’s And Then Productions due to the fact that the company conceived and developed the script with the scribes.
The first TV spot for The X-Files: I Want to Believe has now started broadcasting on televisions nationwide. The movie opens July 25 and stars series regulars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, as well as Xzibit, Amanda Peet and Adam Godley.
The movie is said to be reminiscent of the older X-Files standalone episodes, dealing with a single case and not an overarching conspiracy like the later seasons tended to focus on.
Amanda Peet is in the next “X-Files” movie along with the usual David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. The “I Want to Believe” film is opening July 25th this summer. Peet seems to be playing an FBI agent similar to Mulder. This trailer doesn’t depict her role as much as the recent theatrical trailer viewed at the official site. The official trailer offers Peet’s line “I am not the most popular girl at the FBI, right now,” perhaps says it all. Your guess is as good as mine.
