Gerard Butler is a very good looking actor. Even the magazines say he is one of the sexiest men in movies.   I first saw him in Phantom of the Opera and he was fantastic — a great voice and charismatic.  Then, I saw him in a sweet, gem of an independent movie called Dear Frankie. He played a warm and caring man – very different from the Phantom.  When I saw him in 300, I saw a whole new Gerard Butler, wow, a vibrant and strong leader – what a body!

In these two clips, Gerard Butler visits with Conan on the Tonight Show and they talk about 300 and his next movie, The Ugly Truth.  He also talks about the Jennifer Aniston’s rumors.

A kind of out there in silly land, tongue and cheek, inside joke with NBC and Obama. Don’t you think?

Even with reports dismissing his involvement with the project, Brett Ratner still wants to be a part of Conan the Barbarian reboot, talking with MTV about the casting.

Who would he have play Conan? “It should be an unknown,” he said. “Conan is kind of iconic. It’s kind of like when you do Superman. It’s difficult to fill those shoes but they came up with a new Batman, they came up with a new James Bond, you know?”

Well, to be honest, both Christian Bale and Daniel Craig were well known actors before they got their respective roles.

Ratner will next be working on the fourth Beverly Hills Cop film that will be shot sometime later this year.

conan The Conan film isn’t coming as soon as you’d like, as The LA Times carries statements from Brett Ratner – the director himself – that he’s not doing the film now.

“This is totally premature,” he said. “For now, ‘Conan’ is only a development deal.” Ratner added that he is doing Beverly Hills Cop first “no matter what.”

Meanwhile, Millennium Films chief Avi Lerner acknowledged the issue, noting that the company “still [has] a few obstacles… Brett is only committed if we agree on a budget, on how to do the special effects and exactly where we’d shoot the film.”

Lerner added that he has also offered Schwarzenegger $1 million to do a one-day cameo in the picture. The California governor is yet to respond.

Conan.JPG width=300 It has been a while since there has been some Conan news, but today is the day we get a “possible directors” list for the long-in-gestation film.

Latino Review notes that Brett Ratner, known best for his Rush Hour films, met with Nu Image about directing the film, but wasn’t offered the gig. In fact, several directors have met with the company, who was desperately courting Robert Rodriguez for the film, though he can’t do it due to his busy schedule.

Other directors were mentioned, including Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), Neil Marshall (The Descent), James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) and The Strause Brothers (AVP: Requiem).

No one has yet been confirmed.

Conan Movie Gets Two New Writers

conan-poster Superhero Hype reports that Dirk Blackman and Howard McCain have been hired to rework the script for Conan for Lionsgate. The site also notes that the writing duo’s action-adventure screenplay Amazon, which has Scarlet Johansson attached, is also moving forward at Lionsgate.

The Conan film is being produced by Paradox Entertainment president and CEO Frederik Malmberg along with others from Millennium Films. Earlier drafts of the film were written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer, marking the project as a resurrection for the dark hero.

The new writers are going back to creator Robert E. Howard’s original stories to create a $100 million R-rated original film, which the site notes is to be the largest production to date for Lionsgate and Millennium.
