Colin Firt does an extraordinary job of playing an English professor, whose partner dies suddenly and he tries to live ha typical day, which is a struggle to say the least.  Will he find the meaning of life?

One of my cohorts raved about Dorian Gray Teaser Trailer.  I don’t find it so ravenous because it’s too jagged.  I like the look of the film, but the trailer would be more enjoyable if it was smoother.  Colin Firth stars with Ben Barnes.  If you are familiar with the classic by Oscar Wilde, you’ll know its a unique story about ”what if I never grew old and all my wickedness never scathes me, but is kept hidden in a portrait, showing my true colors.”

First look at Dorian Gray

An early promo insert for Dorian Gray is being sent out, providing a sneak peek at what to expect from Oscar Wilde’s infamous immortal protagonist.

Ben Barnes stars in the film which tells the story of a beautiful young man named Dorian who takes Victorian London by storm. He is shown around by the charismatic Henry Wotton (Colin Firth) who introduces him to the hedonistic pleasures of the city.

Gray is then shown a portrait of himself, which he finds stunningly beautiful. In fact, he finds it so beautiful that he pledges he would give anything to stay as he is in the picture – even his soul.

The thriller is set to hit UK cinemas on September 11.

Helen Hunt’s directorial debut of Then She Found Me is a spectacular concatenation pivoting around Hunt’s character Alice.

An adoptive daughter of a Jewish faith who is visited by her biological mother, played brilliantly by Bette Midler, at the end of her short-failed marriage and the death of her adoptive mother.

Yet at the same time, Alice meets Colin Firth’s character, Frank, who loves her deeply and the feeling is mutual.

Then she finds out she is pregnant.

Although it appears this film is a slice of life — it’s more than that – the story dissolves the seamless writing into rough cuts of true to life scenes.

Bette Midler stands out. Her character has many layers of half-truths, untruths and incomplete truths. You can’t help but understand her complexity. She takes each scene and rests on the undercurrents between her and Hunt.

This movie is a great beginning for Hunt. It’s billed as a comedy but the humor (or wit) comes from Midler.

Hunt took on a huge task with an ensemble of very talented actors and a story as thick as angst. It’s worth a look if you ask me – Then She Found Me hit the DVD shelves September 1st.

Vanity Fair does a great piece on Colin Firth whose recent musical film, Mama Mia!, opened to great reviews and box office score for a movie of its caliber.

You can see Firth as an over-the-hill middle weight, creative director or 17-year-old stage door Johnny.
