Adam Sandler’s untitled comedy appears to have completed its major casting with Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph and Colin Quinn
joining up.
Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider and David Spade have already joined the project, which gyrates around five best friends from high school who reunite 30 years later on a Fourth of July weekend. Hayek is set to play the wife of Sandler’s character and Rudolph will portray Rock’s spouse.
Dennis Dugan is onboard to direct the comedy that is scheduled to begin filming in the summer. Sandler wrote the screenplay with Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star scribe Fred Wolf.
Variety is calling the untitled movie a reunion for “Saturday Night Live” alums. Former cast members Rudolph and Quinn join Sandler, Rock, Schneider, Spade and Wolf, who all spent time on the long-running series.
Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan and Chris Rock have signed on to star in Death at a Funeral, a comedy to be directed
by Neil LaBute.
The tale revolves around a dysfunctional family that gathers for the patriarch’s funeral. When tensions rise and old conflicts are uncovered, a man arrives saying he’s the dead man’s gay lover and threatens blackmail.
The ensemble cast includes Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Loretta Devine and Ron Glass.
Rock co-wrote the film with Aeysha Carr and Rock is producing the film as well.
Filming is set to start in the spring.

Just off the heels of huge opening of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa Chris Rock is partnering with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Sony’s Screen Gems to rework the 2007 British comedy Death at a Funeral.
Rock plans to produce, co-write with Aeysha Carr and star in the black comedy.
The original feature was written by Dean Craig and directed by Frank Oz.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the ensemble comedy will take place in an urban American setting and centers on a funeral ceremony that devolves into a debacle of misplaced cadavers, indecent exposure and family secrets. The cast will be primarily black, supplanting the earlier, England-set version’s British cast.
A director hasn’t been nabbed yet, but plans are to start production in the spring.
