It’s been ten years since Cher graced the silver screen as she gets ready to join Christina Aguilera in Burlesque, a contemporary musical with Steven Antin directing from a script he wrote.
Variety reports that Aguilera will play an ambitious small-town Iowa girl with a big voice who comes of age in a neo-burlesque club on Sunset Boulevard that’s run by Tess (Cher), a former dancer who struggles to keep the club open and gives the young girl a chance to shine.
While we’ve heard Cher’s voice in many films, Burlesque will mark the first time that we will see her sing on the silver screen in a film she stars in. Tea With Mussolini in 1999 was her last starring role in film.

The Hollywood Reporter carries word that Cher and Johnny Knoxville are attached to star in The Drop-Out, an upcoming slacker comedy.
The film will follow a 35-year old career college student (played by Knoxville) who is kicked out of his parents house. Desperate to maintain his food, couch and TV regimen, he decides to get in good with the 62-year old woman next door (played by Cher). Thrown in the mix is the womans son who is looking for a father figure, even if its a guy his own age. That role is yet to be cast.
Penned and directed by Ricky Blitt, the project is being produced by John Jacobs.

When I first read from a blogger that Cher will be the next Catwoman for Christopher Nolan’s The Cape Crusader starring with Christian Bale as Batman and Johnny Depp as the Riddler, I didn’t believe it. I thought of it as a publicity stunt.
Then, I read it again at another blog site with the source identified UK Telegraph. It’s true.
I rather like the idea. I’d love to see Cher on the big screen, again. Of course, Johnny Depp is miraculous.
It’s great to hear Nolan is directing the next Batman movie, too. He’s done a marvelous job so far, which the box office proves.
