underworld-rise-of-the-lycansI’m not exactly sure how it happened, but there will in fact be an Underworld 4, and it will be in 3-D.

Well, okay…maybe I DO know how it happened…it probably had a lot to do with the fact that the third one brought in almost a hundred million dollars and had a shooting budget of roughly one third that much, so it’s a money-maker, which means they’re going to move heaven and earth to do more of it.  They’re looking at a 2011 release date on this, so plenty of time for news to come out.

There’s not much word yet as to plot or even casting–we’ll let you know when we’ve got something more to say on that–but if we were to hazard a guess (which of course, we will!), Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen would be on the short list, with either Kate Beckinsale or Rhona Mitra coming back in to handle the lead female vampire role.  I personally agree with the Rhona crowd, as Beckinsale was only peripherally around for the last one–why would she be back for the new one?

Ah well–lots to keep our eyes on in the near future!

Bill_Nighy Legendary actor Bill Nighy (Underworld, Pirates of the Caribbean) recently sat down with British tabloid The Independent to whom he confirmed that he has landed a role in the final two-part Harry Potter film.

While he doesn’t come out and say the name of the character, Nighy noted that he will be a “goodie”. Many are speculating that the role will be that of Rufus Scrimgeour, the veteran Auror who becomes the Minister of Magic after Cornelius Fudge goes out.

It’s funny to point out that Nighy had previously complained that he was “the only British actor who hasn’t been on Harry Potter.” Well, he just got his wish fulfilled!

The two-part Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is set for release in November 2010 and July 2011.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans delves into the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires, known as Death Dealers, and the barbaric Lycans, known as werewolves. A young Lycan, Lucian (Michael Sheen), emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor (Bill Nighy), the cruel vampire king who has persecuted them for hundreds of years. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, the beautiful vampire Sonja (Rhona Mitra), in his battle to free the Lycans from their brutal enslavement.

What a kick it will be to see Michael Sheen as a werewolf!

A Fox’s Tale nabbed some pretty awesome voices: Freddie Highmore — who’s adorable and talented — Bill Nighy, Miranda Richardson and Sienna Miller.

The feature animated film is about a fox (Highmore) called Little Jack. He has a blissful life in the forest — couldn’t be better — until his father (Phil Davis) is captured and forced to work in the circus.
