Krause goes beastly

Peter Krause In more casting news, Peter Krause has joined the cast of Beastly, the upcoming film adaptation of Alex Flinn’s fantasy novel.

He joins Mary-Kate Olsen, Alex Pettyfer and Vanessa Hudgens in this retelling of Beauty and the Beast, which is being directed by Daniel Barnz.

Krause is best known for starring in Six Feet Under and NBC’s fall drama Parenthood. He will play the role of the materialistic father of a rich, handsome teen (Pettyfer) who plays a cruel joke on a classmate not knowing she’s a witch (Olsen).

Shooting is currently underway in Montreal.

Entertainment Tonight promotes a glimpse of Beastly and The Last Airbender.  ACIN reports that Airbender trailer will be attached to Transformers 2 when it hits the theaters.

mary-kate-olsen Hollywood is now turning its attention to butchering the fairy tales we’ve all read during our childhoods. Their next victim will be Beastly, a modern take on “Beauty and the Beast”, a teen romance film that stars Mary-Kate Olsen (ugh) and Alex Pettyfer.

It’s actually based on Alex Flinn’s fantasy novel that sees Olsen’s character place a curse on handsome egocentric young New Yorker who’s physically transformed into everything he despises.

Vanessa Hudgens will also star.

Daniel Barnz is directing from his own script. Shooting starts June 13 in Montreal.

CBS Films picked Vanessa Hudgens to star in teen romancer Beastly.

The story is about an arrogant 17-year-old who’s hideously transformed in order to find true romance directed by Daniel Barnez from his own script.  

The plotline comes from Alex Flinn’s fantasy novel, a modern, retelling of “Beauty and the Beast” set in New York.

Daniel Barnz has signed on to direct Beastly for CBS Films. Barnz also penned the screenplay for Beastly, which is based on the novel of the same name by Alex Flinn.  

An edgy romance, the story centers on a handsome, yet arrogant, 17 year old who is physically transformed and must find true love to break the curse.

Barnz wrote and directed Phoebe in Wonderland which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury prize.  The films stars Felicity Huffman, Elle Fanning and Patricia Clarkson.

CBS Films is moving forward on supernatural high-school action film Beastly, and are bringing on Daniel Barnz to helm and write.

The project is based on Alex Flinn’s young-adult novel of the same name and tells the story of a popular but arrogant teenager who is turned into a monster by a witch in his class. To break the curse, he must find true love.

It is being produced by Susan Cartsonis and Roz Wesiberg. They are currently seeking a young heartthrob to play the lead role.
