From IESB comes word that the character of Donald Blake has been added to the end of the script of the upcoming Thor film being penned by Kenneth Branagh. Up until now, the script was set entirely in the land of the Norse gods; however, the introduction of this character is important to how the film ties into the Avengers film which will be set in a contemporary setting.
The movie will see Blake discovering the magical Norse hammer Mjolnir and turning into Thor himself.
Thor is set to open in theaters July 2010, with The Avengers due out July 2011. Branagh is reported to have an acting part in the film.

Worried that the highly anticipated Avengers film will suck? Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) shares your worries, too, telling MTV News that the filmmakers are actually working hard to make sure the film works well.
"If we don’t get it right it’s really, really going to suck,” he said. “It has to be the crowning blow of Marvel’s best and brightest because it’s the hardest thing to get right.”
He continued, adding that it will be tough to combine the radically different worlds of the superheroes in one movie universe. Iron Man was set in a rather realistic world where anything shown in the movie is not out of the realm of possibility; Thor’s universe will be fantasy-tinged and Hulk’s universe, while realistic, is more comic book-like.

Joe Johnston first met with Marvel Studio two years ago and now they are working together on First Avenger: Captain America.
Johnston is not new to designing films. He first started out in visual effects. His work can be seen in Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
As a director he’s posting for The Wolfman right now. Other credits include Hidalgo, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and October Sky.
The story of Captain America was created in 1941 by Jack Kirby and Joe Simon for Timely Comics. He is an alter ego of Steve Rogers, who is rejected by the Army for being too sickly and undergoes an experiment that takes him to the pinnacle of human form. Paired with an indestructible shield, he became a symbol of the war effort, in and out of comics according to Hollywood Reporter.
Captain America is set to take place during World War II. However, he will also appear in the modern day-set Avengers. We just have to speculate that superheroes never grow old.
