The Hollywood Reporter carries word that Joby Harold is negotiating to write the film adaptation of the comic mini-series Atlantis Rising for DreamWorks Pictures.

Atlantis Rising saw an underworld civilization being discovered after seismic rumbles announce its presence. The civilization is hostile towards the land-dwellers and a war ensues.

Len Wiseman is attached as director, with Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Scott Mitchell Rosenberg onboard as producers.

The film is being aimed for release in Summer 2011.

Variety reports that Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard) is set to direct the film adaptation of five-part apocalyptic sci-fi miniseries Atlantis Rising.

In development at DreamWorks, the story begins when seismic disturbances at sea force world militaries to investigate the deepest part of the ocean, finding out an underground civilization that emerges to engage in war with the surface people.

The film is being produced by creator Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
