Moving on from being expendable, Forest Whitaker will join America Ferrera and Carlos Mencia in an untitled family wedding project for Fox Searchlight.
The film will tell the story of two overbearing fathers (Whitaker, Mencia) who must put aside their differences to plan the wedding of their son and daughter in less than two weeks.
Rick Famuyiwa is helming from his own screenplay. It’s set to start shooting next month in Los Angeles.

America Ferrera and Melissa Leo are set to star in American Tragic, a post-Iraq War drama from Latino film producer Maya Entertainment.
Ferrera will also exec produce writer-director Ryan Piers Williams’ story about a young soldier (Ryan O’Nan) who has trouble settling in when he comes back to his small hometown. He walks out on his wife, mother and sister (Ferrera, Leo and June Diane Raphael) to travel the country in search of redemption.
Filming is set to start next year in February in New Mexico.
