Sufficiently f up are the character one-shots and artwork that has sprung from Tim Burton’s 3D take on Alice in Wonderland.
The photos and concept art give us the first look at Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen and Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. Artwork shows Tweedledee and Tweedledum, as well as some environments.
According to USA Today – who posted the images – the story is a sequel to Lewis Carroll’s drug-trip of a story. It will follow 17-year old Alice (Mia Wasikowska) attending a Victorian party. She then finds out that she is about to be proposed to in front of hundreds of snooty social types. Panicking, she runs off and follows a white rabbit into a hole, ending up in Wonderland, though she does not remember it.
The film is due out next year.
Those of you who own stock in Disney – I hate you! Shareholders of the company were given the first glimpse of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s upcoming Alice in Wonderland as part of Walt Disney’s annual shareholders meeting on Tuesday.
Here’s a description from The Carpetbagger: "Victorian top hat, crimped hair that sticks straight out, and swirl of brightly colored make-up on his eyes, cheeks and lips that resembled the blur of a pinwheel blowing in the breeze.”
A 3D screening of Up along with early footage of Toy Story 3 which was described as “jaw droppingly good” by an attendee was also shown. This was during a visit to Pixar’s corporate campus in Emeryville on Monday.

Tim Burton has casted Crispin Glover to play the Knave of Hearts in his adaptation of Alice in Wonderland for Disney according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Glover joins Mia Wasikowska as Alice and includes Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter.
Burton is using a combination of live action and performance-capture technology to tell the Lewis Carroll story.
If you haven’t read “Alice” in awhile the Knave of Hearts is put on trial for stealing the Queen of Hearts’ tarts and is defended by Alice.
Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland casting wit shines brightly with Anne Hathaway as Queen White and Helena Bonham Carter as Queen Red. Hathaway’s Queen White is kind to Alice as she helps her defeat a creature known as the Bandersnatch.
Bonham Carter’s Queen Red yells, “Off with her head!!!”
Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter while Michael Sheen is also in the movie without a role yet.
Who will play the Cheshire Cat?

British actor Michael Sheen has a busy line up as he joins Samuel L. Jackson on the thriller Unthinkable and will also appear in Tim Burton’s re-imagining of classic children’s story Alice in Wonderland.
According to Variety, Gregor Jordan will direct Unthinkable; a story that takes a look at the ethics of torture after a terrorist threatening to detonate nuclear devices in the U.S. is questioned by a black-operations interrogator and an FBI agent, Carrie-Ann Moss.
Filming begins shooting this month.
Sheen will have a role in Alice in Wonderland, it’s not disclosed yet.
An important point that Variety noted about Michael Sheen: both films are a change in direction for Sheen, who has made a name for himself playing real-life characters to critical acclaim.
Sheen stars as British TV personality David Frost in Ron Howard’s upcoming Frost/Nixon. He portrayed former British Prime Minister Tony Blair in The Deal, which I wrote about and Screenhead sponsored a Giveaway, and The Queen, both of which were directed by Stephen Frears.
In The Damned United he plays legendary English soccer coach Brian Clough. The film is in post-production.
Sheen may also reprise his role as Blair in Morgan’s The Special Relationship, an intimate look at the former prime minister’s relationships with U.S. presidents Clinton and George W. Bush.

Johnny Depp is set to play the Mad Hatter in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. This is great casting. I was wondering which part Depp would play. The Mad Hatter is perfect, he’ll have a blast. Now, who should play the Rabbit, James McAvoy?
Mia Wasikowska is set to play Alice in Tim Burton and Disney’s Alice in Wonderland.
Casting the part of Alice was, obviously, an important link to the whole film. Wasikowska fits the role to lead the adventure through the looking glass.
The film, based on a script by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King), is set to be filmed with live-action and performance-capture footage and presented in Disney Digital 3-D. Disney. Principal photography starts in November.
Wasikowska started on the Aussie series “All Saints” and is a regular on HBO’s “In Treatment.” She next appears opposite Daniel Craig in war drama Defiance and just completed filming the role of a young Amelia Earhart fan in the biopic Amelia.
