In his most daring season of “Criss Angel Mindfreak” to date, Criss Angel ups the ante by attempting five of the most dangerous demonstrations in magic. Each week he will attempt to defy the natural laws of science in new and innovative ways and will be challenged with a way to live… or a way to die. Each one-hour episode will feature a variety of different illusions and culminate in one grand, never-before-seen demonstration that will blow viewers minds. 

The season premiere will be “White Death,” on Wednesday, August 12 at 10 PM ET/PT and the five episodes include:

“White Death” – Criss takes the “Buried Alive” escape to an unprecedented level as he is shackled and placed in a transparent coffin that is buried in ice and snow. Will he escape or succumb to hypothermia, suffocation or the risk of the ground collapsing on top of him? 

“Death Field” – Criss is challenged to safely traverse a field of live explosives in less than five minutes where the risk for serious injury, if not death, is extremely high. 

“Terminal Velocity” – Criss attempts to teleport himself twice, first he drops an object from more than 250 feet above the Las Vegas strip and reach the bottom in time to catch it in one continuous camera shot. And in front of hundreds of spectators he attempts to vanish in mid-air and reappear in an impossible location.

“Death Crash” – In his most death-defying illusion to date, Criss will hide in one of five coffins and the spectators, unaware of which coffin he has chosen, will send a merciless driver to smash the coffins into splinters. 

“Mass Levitation” – Criss takes levitation to new heights by levitating an entire Las Vegas crowd whose safety he is responsible for.  This demonstration requires intense concentration, should he fail some will fall and face certain injury.

On July 15, at 10pm ET/PT, A&E Network will launch its first original scripted drama series in more than six years. THE CLEANER stars Benjamin Bratt (”Law and Order,” Miss Congeniality), Amy Price-Francis (”Californication”), Grace Park (”Battlestar Galactica”), Kevin Michael Richardson (”Knights of Prosperity,” “Like Family”), Esteban Powell (Dazed and Confused, Powder), Brett DelBuono (Balls of Fury, “Kidnapped”) and Liliana Mumy (Cheaper by the Dozen, The Santa Clause 2: The Mrs. Clause).

Inspired by the true story of a real life “extreme interventionist,” Bratt stars as William “The Cleaner” Banks who, after hitting rock-bottom from his own addictions after the birth of his daughter, strikes a tentative deal with God. In exchange for a second chance, he vows to kick his addictions and dedicate his life to helping others. Now, along with his unconventional team, he helps people get clean from their own addictions by any means necessary.

Good news for A&E Network and Patrick Swayze, they have picked up “The Beast.” Patrick Swayze, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March, is set to star in the series alongside Travis Fimmel.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Beast,” from Sony, centers on an unorthodox but effective FBI veteran (Swayze) who trains a new partner (Fimmel) in his hard-edged and psychologically clever style of agenting while being pursued by a secret Internal Affairs team.

A&E has ordered 13 hour-long episodes to go into production this summer in Chicago, with a tentative premiere set for early 2009.

In a statement, Swayze did not address his health, but network execs confirmed that his doctors have cleared him to resume work.

“I have searched for quite a long time to find a character that is this multilayered, unpredictable and downright entertaining as well as a project this current and cutting-edged,” he said.

Variety reported today the two-hour premiere Monday, A&E’s remake of the sci-fi thriller “Andromeda Strain” harvested more viewers in key demos than any other movie or miniseries on basic cable so far this year.

The first half of the heavily promoted four-hour telepic, starring Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack and Andre Braugher, averaged 4.8 million total viewers. It brought in 2.7 million adults 25-54 to become the second-highest rated cablecast of all time in that demo on A&E.

Part one of “The Andromeda Strain” drew 4.8 million total viewers. Sci Fi Channel originally began developing the $15 million project four years ago through its Universal Pictures sibling. When Sci Fi passed, A&E quickly stepped in.
