300_banner The testosterone-fuelled 300 drew audiences in the hundreds of thousands, and Hollywood isn’t about to pass up on following up one of its poster-boys for the highly impressionable male audiences. Rumors of a 300 sequel have been a long time in the coming, but Zack Snyder finally set everything in stone when he was out doing promotion for the upcoming Watchmen DVD and Blu-ray release.

“I know for a fact that Frank [Miller] is writing right now,” said the director. “[He's] drawing away and seems to be knee-deep in it. I think he’s going to head back to Greece again and do another reconnaissance.”

Snyder doesn’t expect much to change from the first film, though the budget will be kept more in check this time as they will be using the same technology.

“We’re going to see Athens and the Aegean and other places,” he detailed. “There would be an opportunity for bigger visions, though I’d hope for the same aesthetic. The tech we used for ‘300′ was not a revolution. It’s basically what the weatherman has.”

300-logo Giving life to a bad idea, thanks to money for everyone concerned, director Zack Snyder revealed some plot details about the upcoming pre/sequel to 300.

According to Snyder, the action will take place sometime between the Battle of Thermopylae and the Battle of Plataea, with the narrator Dilios re-telling the story of King Leonidas and the Spartans to a new group of warriors at the end of the first film.

Frank Miller is reportedly working on writing and drawing the graphic novel upon which the second film will be based on. They will start adapting it to the screen once he has finished it.

In an interesting note, Snyder noted that he won’t have any input in the sequel as he wants it to be a creation entirely of Miller’s. Let’s see how that turns out.

GERARD BUTLER Speaking to Superhero Hype at the Toronto press conference for the upcoming crime thriller RocknRolla, Gerard Butler talked about the possible pre/sequel to 300 that has been rumored for some time now.

Interestingly Butler hasn’t heard anything about the project, adding that he is rather skeptical about the film’s potential.

"I’ve heard some backroom chatter, but nothing more, so I don’t know if it would be a sequel or a prequel," he said. "I don’t want say anymore than that, because I really don’t know. I haven’t read anything. I can’t see it myself–sequel for me absolutely not, but I just mean the idea generally, I’m really not sure which way they would go with that."

RocknRolla, the latest crime thriller by Guy Ritchie, is due to open October 8.
