Those reporter types at the Hollywood Reporter carry word that Ben Stiller is in early talks to direct DreamWorks’ narrative film version of The Trial of the Chicago 7, a project which the likes of Steven Spielberg have been candidates to direct.
The film will be focused on the 1968 riots at the Democratic convention and their aftermath. This political drama would be a big departure for Stiller, who is known for comedies such as Tropical Thunder and Zoolander, among many others.
DreamWorks wants to get the film into production right away, though the final decision on the director is yet to be taken.
