Steve Martin to Return in Pink Panther 2

Steve Martin is set to reprise his role as the bumbling inspector Jacques Clouseau in a sequel to his first Pink Panther movie. The film will be directed by Harald Zwart (Agent Cody Banks, One Night at McCool’s), and Shawn Levy (who directed the first Pink Panther) will serve as the executive producer. Sony is said to be eying up a late August start date, so hopefully we’ll have this film out sometime in 2008.
The first film didn’t get such great reviews, but I think a lot of it was unwarranted. I didn’t see the first one at the theater, and I didn’t even see it right when it came out on DVD. But I did get around to seeing it, and was pleasantly surprised, especially with all of the negative remarks that I had heard from critics. It was a good laugh, and with funnyman Steve Martin on board again, I think Pink Panther 2 will be just as good, if not better than the first one.

I gotta agree. I thought it would be terrible, didnt see it in theaters, didnt rent it. my pops gave it to me and said I had to watch it. funniest thing I saw in a long time.
