It had to happen sooner or later. Stephen Colbert (left) plays a faux insanely right wing news show host on Comedy Central’s satirical The Colbert Report, while Bill O’Reilly (below, right) really is an insanely right wing news show host on Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor. But on January 18th the two men will finally come face to face on screen, trading appearances on each other’s shows.
“I’m really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me,” said a typically modest O’Reilly.
“I look forward to the evening,” Colbert said. “It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O’Reilly.”
There are three different ways this could go. It could be hilarious if O’Reilly treats the whole thing as a sketch and indulges Colbert a bit. It could be horribly awkward if he attempts to get Colbert to break character or, and this is the one I’m hoping for, it could turn into a bizarre sort of furious debate.
O’Reilly may be an idiot but he’s no fool, more than capable of either cornering a guest/opponent or - if that fails - talking over them. But Colbert’s equally smart, using inescapable traps of fake logic and stubbornness to corner guests on his own show.
My prediction is a moral victory for each man when they host, but it will be fun to see whose truthiness stands up best to interrogation.

it’s funny to see how you would call a brilliant man like Bill O’Reilly and idiot when this website itself cant even spell Colbert right ,Example “attempts to get Colbet to break…”
I know this extremely LEFT-WING Democratic web-site that only judges news shows that arnt fox news network (the number one news network) with good ratings. will never post comment because there afraid of a challenge on there views and oppinions.

I’m not saying that either of you are right or wrong here. It is quite clear however that neither of you are being mature about this.

will=Will (or maybe more correct would have been to place a comma after ‘ratings’ followed by “and will never”

There=they’re (used incorrectly BOTH times)

My good God, if you are going to harrass someone, please, do your best to develop coherent thoughts.
As for Daryl, you might be more well spoken than your critic, but you are still calling Bill O’Reilly and idiot. He does have the number one rated cable television show in America, so agree or disagree with his opinions, he is obviously not an idiot.

Dominic oh he’s an idiot. Cuz my favorite programming is to watch idiots speak, like bush, rumsfield, oberman, kerry, and etc. it like watching a monkey dance in a tutu. u cant look a way.
also u need to remember just because u have a highed rated cable show doesnt mean crap about intelligence.
Remember Jerry Springer was also rated number 1 on TV. And he beat out Oprah.

25-54 Demo - Oct. 2006 — 470,000 — Oct. 2005 — 518,000 — 9% Drop
That’s over 1,600 people per night. That are sick and tried of the disingenuous republican noise machine faux news.
Why do you think he is appearing on comedy central? its a lame attempt to save his ratings.
The truth is fox is on a downward spiral and has been since before November, and Reilly is leading the way. Perhaps if you brain dead republican parrots would research rather than parroting the talking heads on faux news, we could get something accomplished in this country, rather than my pundit can beat up your pundit.

O’Reilly is a right-wing propaganda machine who caters to the right wing ideology. He is a bully-seriously. He scares people on the show- have you guys see him stand in front of normal people? You should check out the youtube on how he bullied and change a story when interviewing with the son of a 9/11 victim. The Colbert Show and The Daily Show are actually real shows which call out on the stupid propaganda lies on shows like The Factor, Hannity & Colmes (FOX news, CNN mainly)etc do. They make fun of how stupid these people in the news media are in telling lies(or just one side of the story) with no common sense. And people are even more stupid to believe every word they say. They only tell one side of the story to push their ideology.
Do you know that research has shown that people who watch The Daily Show/ The Colbert Report are much more informed than people who watch regular cable news?
It is sad to see people who only watch FOX.

Calling Bill orielly, an idiot is typical of some “new idea dead” quasi liberals! I’m a “centrist Democrat” I like Bill Orielly and Fox, they are a breath of fresh air compared to the lames on Air America & those no talent socalled comedians that were on that network now defunct! Some elements of the Democratic party are part of the old paradigm stagnant & dinosaurs. I like how Tony Snow called out the hack reporter Roberts. Snow should not have apologized to Roberts.
