Sony plan to offer legal movie downloads for the PSP. The idea is that users would download a movie directly to their PC via an onlin epartner like Amazon or other, then transfer it to the handheld PSP.
As with old people memory is an issue, but approximately 10 movies could be stored on the 4gb memory stick which Sony are currently distributing. And by “distributing” I mean “selling for hundreds of dollars each.”
Currently only Disney are offering legal movie downloads via iTunes, so Sony’s move is an important step in the evolution of the movie download business. It will likely be the start of a PSP vs iPod movie download war.
But I feel the same way about watching movies on a PSP as I do about watching movies on an iPod: Why bother? The video display is so tiny it’s like going to the theater and sitting a hundred miles from the screen.
