Former Senator Santorum Gets into the Movie Biz

rick-santorum.jpgFormer U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (Republican - PA), is reportedly in early talks with Stephen McEveety, the producer of Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ. The two are working together to bring Santorum’s movie project idea to fruition.

The yet-untitled film’s story follows three Iranian brothers who take disparate paths in their lives, including one who becomes a terrorist.

McEveety has worked extensively with Mel Gibson on blockbusters such as Braveheart, Passion of the Christ, and We Were Soldiers. Santorum, however, would like to make it very clear that he is not working with Mel Gibson, and is merely utilizing someone (McEveety) who in the past worked for Gibson:

I am not doing anything with Mel Gibson. I am doing something with a movie project, but it is in the very, very early stages of the project. The only Gibson connection is that the guy that I am doing this with used to work for Gibson, but he does not now.”

Thanks for clarifying that, Rick.

As of right now it is not clear where the movie will be filmed, but those in Santorum’s home state of Pennsylvania are hoping for a location within the state to help boost the local economy.
