No ReservationsI saw Mostly Martha when it was released theatrically five years ago. It’s a cute film that I hope more people will want to see on DVD to compare with the new English language remake, No Reservations which opens this Friday. For those interested in knowing a bit more about the making of the new version, Coming Soon has an interview with director Scott Hicks.

Hicks reveals that the restaurant where much of the action takes place was a real restaurant in New York City’s Greenwich Village. While Hicks came onto the project after Catherine Zeta-Jones was attached to the film, and the script was written, it was Hicks who insisted on having the film no only take place in New York City, but film in “the big apple” as well. Hicks also discusses the changes from the European settings, as well as working with Abigail Breslin prior to the release of Little Miss Sunshine.

Best known for his Academy Award winning film Shine, Hicks discusses filming commercials between feature film projects, and also discusses his documentary in progress about composer Philip Glass.
