Proving once again that you can’t always get what you want, Paramount Pictures has delayed to release of Martin Scorsese’s documentary on The Rolling Stones in order to get develop their promotional campaign. The film was set for a September 21 release. Now exact date has been set other than that it will be in 2008.
Scorsese has shown an early cut of the film, Shine a Light to the Stones in Rome. The film was shot over two nights at New York City’s legendary Beacon Theater. Guest musicians include Christina Aguilera, Jack White and famed blues musician Buddy Guy.
Scorsese has been associated with the rock documentary almost from the beginning, first as an uncredited editor on Woodstock and The Medicine Ball Caravan, as well as credit as Montage Supervisor for Elvis on Tour. More famously, Scorsese also directed The Last Waltz documenting the final performance of The Band. Scorsese’s earliest use of The Rolling Stones music is in his 1973 film Mean Streets.
