Coming to you live from the “That’s Wrong For So Many Reasons” file, the Flash toon market has stepped in and grabbed a hold of Watchmen.
Specifically, Newgrounds has a brand-new cartoon that poses the question…what would happen if Watchmen were a Saturday morning cartoon?
The result is hilarious. Seriously, I laughed myself stupid watching this, seeing all the great archetypes of eighties (and early nineties) Saturday morning television put in places where they very clearly shouldn’t have been: squarely on the shoulders of the most dysfunctional comic book super team EVER. Next time you read the comics, just count the sociopaths. The Comedian? Oh yeah. Rorschach? You betcha. Ozymandias? Yeah, kinda. Doctor Manhattan? Disassociative disorder, aisle three!
The down side to this is that all we get is the theme song. Not that that’s not funny, but I would easily watch the twenty two minute cartoon version of this. In a heartbeat. And that may be the highest praise of all—I want MORE.

Yeah, wasn’t it though? And the more you watch it, the more you realize that it’s just STUFFED with in-jokes.
