[kml_flashembed movie="http://www.youtube.com/v/5axlihS-Oyw" width="425" height="350" wmode="transparent" /]I’m not too into comic books so please excuse my ignorance, but why is everyone getting so excited about this film? The original big screen Fantastic Four wasn’t too impressive, so a sequel shouldn’t be too appealing.

But because it’s got this silver surfer dude everyone’s seems to be getting all jumpy. Can anyone convince me why this is worth getting excited about?

See, the Silver Surfer is the herald of Galactus the devourer of worlds. Also the Silver Surfer wields the power of the Cosmo’s So, in essence we have a very powerful being who is letting us know are asses will soon be kicked by an even stronger being.

Yeah, uh, this is along the lines of people getting excited about Venom in Spiderman, Sandman in Batman, and any other favorite comic book icon that these fanatics get overly happy about. I don’t get it either. Won’t be getting my $10.

My wife is excited to see it. I have no idea why. I think she thinks it will look cool.

As for me, I think people are excited because we’re at a point in special effects where a crazy character like the Silver Surfer can actually look believable.

I think they’re being smart with the way they’re handling this movie. The first Fantastic Four was much lighter than the other super hero movies that have come out lately, and that plays to the FF’s strength. The Silver Surfer will pose some larger than life challenges and should make for some nice eye candy.

If you don’t overthink it, you’ll probably like it.
