British indie favorites Sam Riley (Control) and Carey Mulligan (An Education) are slated to star in a new film version of Graham Greene’s classic novel Brighton Rock, reports Variety.
The novel tells the story of a young gangster who marries the waitress who witnessed a murder he has committed in order to keep her quiet.
It was previously made into a film back in 1947. The new version will more closely follow the book, but shift the setting to 1964.
Rowan Joffe is helming the $10-12 million project. Shooting starts this September.
