The ever-popular “Resident Evil” franchise, which has made probably the best transition from video game to movie ever, will soon be getting an animated, full-length feature film.  Sony Pictures and the video game company Capcom are teaming up to extend the franchise’s success in other areas.  This time, they’re working together to produce an animated film entitled “Biohazard: Degeneration.”

The storyline in the animated film will not be based on the characters or storyline of the movie, and will exist independently from the trilogy that starred Milla Jovavich.  Because it isn’t based on that series, that explains why “Resident Evil” is missing from the film’s title. Instead, they’ve decided to go to the Japanese title from the video game series, which is “Biohazard”.

So far there have been no crew, cast, or even definitive story details announced, however, Sony Pictures is still shooting for a 2008 release.  The film will be a 3-D CG animation.

“The ever-popular “Resident Evil” franchise, which has made probably the best transition from video game to movie ever,”

Talk about back-handed praise… seriously, you consider these good movies?

I didn’t see the first, but I did rent the second for drinking-game purposes with a bunch of friends, and I have to admit it was a blast: take a drink every time a zombie gets shot. Take three when someone gets bitten. Finish the drink if someone gets eaten, or if a character has to murder their bitten friend the moment they transform.

They are fairly reliable profit generators because they are relatively cheap. Actually, I find Milla Jovovitch’s recent career really interesting, because she has established herself as an (THE) cheap low-budg action film heroine. For a mere 2 or 3 mil, you can score that chick from “the fifth element,” with the bare-minimum level of star power required to get enough adolescent males into the theater to recoup your costs!

THEN AGAIN, I just looked over wikipedia’s list of “films based on video games,” and holy shit it’s brutal. So perhaps the RE film franchise is at the top of that heap, like the toaster oven you find on your neighbor’s curb on trash day that works GREAT except for the faint wisps of foul-smelling smoke it emits when you turn it on.

But we can all live with that, right?

RESINDENT EVIL ANIMATION AND ONIMUSHA MOVIE IN WORKS.

Capcom and Sony are working on the Resident Evil animated 3D
movie,Resident Evil movies made alot of money in box office.
The film’s star Milla Jonovich who is married to Paul WS Anderson.
Davis Films and Christophe Gans are working on another Capcom game Onimusha and the only problem they need to work on is the plot to get rid of Dutch merchant,Nobunaga marrying two women becuse the storyline from the Comingsoon.net is all false and the plot should be rewritten to follow up the storyline and the plot from the Onimusha Warlords game.
The script needs to be rewritten again while the film is in pre production.
So now the filmmakers that are Japanese,Chinese and two Frenchmen Samuel Hadida and Christophe Gans should work on the script and plot rewrite to follo the plot and story based on Onimusha Warlords storyline.
    Thank You.
