A lot of things happened within the past few days. There was the censorship of Kathy Griffin’s acceptance speech for her Emmy Award and yesterday, America remembered what happened on that fateful day on 9/11 New York. It seems that all of these things happened due to religion. In line with that, we received an email from Lionsgate concerning their religion documentary film, “Religulous.” The film is directed by Larry Charles and stars political humorist and author Bill Maher.
Known for his stance against organized religion, the film is about Bill Maher’s take on the various world religions as he travels to numerous religious destinations such as Jerusalem and the Vatican, interviewing believers from a variety of backgrounds. According to Bill Maher, the title of the film is a portmanteaux derived from the words “religion” and “ridiculous,” implying the satirical nature of the documentary that is meant to mock the concept of religion and the problems it brings about.
