The Conan film isn’t coming as soon as you’d like, as The LA Times carries statements from Brett Ratner – the director himself – that he’s not doing the film now.

“This is totally premature,” he said. “For now, ‘Conan’ is only a development deal.” Ratner added that he is doing Beverly Hills Cop first “no matter what.”

Meanwhile, Millennium Films chief Avi Lerner acknowledged the issue, noting that the company “still [has] a few obstacles… Brett is only committed if we agree on a budget, on how to do the special effects and exactly where we’d shoot the film.”

Lerner added that he has also offered Schwarzenegger $1 million to do a one-day cameo in the picture. The California governor is yet to respond.
