Rachel Weisz to Star in “The Lovely Bones”
June 13th, 2007 in Actors, Drama, Movie News, Movies

Rachel Weisz appears to have made a brilliant career move in passing up on the third installment of the Mummy films. Instead of reprising her role in another sequel, which has a reportedly bad script, Weisz will be playing the lead role in Peter Jackson’s The Lovely Bones.
The Lovely Bones is based off the novel of the same name by Alice Sebold, which was a smash hit in the literary world a few years back. The movie will be a supernatural drama like the book, and tells the tale of a 14-year-old girl who was raped and killed. The girl’s spirit is unhappy about what happened to her, and so decides to stick around to to watch over her family and her killer. Rachel Weisz will play the role of the teenage girl’s mother.
Production is set to begin on The Lovely Bones this October, so we can hopefully expect to see this film on the big screen about a year from now.
