Beginning on December 5th, the “Prince Caspian” trailer, the follow-up to Disney’s hit film “The Chronicles of Narnia”, will be seen everywhere from video sharing websites to theater previews and more.  In other words, Disney is pumping a lot of cash into promoting this film, hoping that it will pay off later at the box office.

The trailer was first shown on “Entertainment Tonight” on Sunday, after which it was distributed to the evening news and morning chat shows of broadcasts in more than 60 countries.  Tomorrow, the trailer will go even wider as Disney places it on Narnia fan sites and Narnia groups on communities like Facebook and MySpace, as well as online at sites like Yahoo, MSN, MTV, Orange, and Jetix.

Mark Zoradi, Pres. of Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Group said, “we saw an unparalleled volume of discussion online for the trailer, and this was an opportunity to give these loyal fans a chance to be among the first in the world to view it, take ownership of it, and spread it amongst their family and friends.”  In other words, Disney has finally grasped the concept of viral marketing.  The movie is not set to open in theaters until May 2008.
