‘Pettigrew’ Looks Like a Fun MovieDecember 31st, 2007 in Book-to-Movie, Comedy, Movie News, Movies, The Movie Biz |
Written by David Magee (”Finding Neverland”) and Simon Beaufoy (”The Full Monty”), “Misses Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” definitely is a must see film. Look at the star quality: Academy Award winner Frances McDormand as Miss Guinevere Pettigrew and Academy Award nominee Amy Adams as Delysia Lafosse.
Based on a novel by Winifried Watson, “Pettigrew” is a sophisticated and heartfelt comedy that takes places in 1939 as a romantic tale. Pettigrew, a middle aged governess, finds herself unfairly dismissed from her occupation. An attempt to gain new employment throws her up into the glamorous world and dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer, Lafosse. Within minutes Miss Pettigrew finds herself swept into a heady high-society milieu — and, by the end of the day, discovers her own romantic destiny.
France McDormand is a sure fire actress that we all know we can count on for a top performance, and with Amy Adams fresh from her hit “Enchanted” we can’t but have certainty the the whole comedy will be entertaining and a fun ride.
