This may well be the single most preposterous item of movie related news that I’ve brought your way in some time, folks.  Apparently, out in the constantly disputed region of space known as the West Bank, the Palestinians have tried a new tack in protesting against Israel–dressing up like Na’Vi from Avatar and attempting to cast the Israelis as the evil humans.

No, seriously, there are pictures and video.

This is actually part of a long string of what are apparently WEEKLY demonstrations against the so-called “wall of shame” in the village of Bil’in.  This week, someone got the bright idea to dress up like characters from Avatar and parade around in front of the wall.

Of course, much like the movie, the bow-toting Na’vi were easily outmatched by superior human technology (this time in the form of tear gas) and these particular Na’vi couldn’t call on their jungle friends for help, thus the demonstration was broken up rather quickly.

Next week they have, if word is to be believed, a “special demonstration” planned–my guess is that they’ll be covering themselves in glitter and going as the vampires from Twilight.
