The Nativity Story (trailer)
Mary (little Keisha Castle-Hughes from “Whale Rider”) and Joseph leave Nazareth and travel 100 miles to Bethlehem, where she gives birth to a little guy who went on to be quite famous. When we did this as a school play we used a plastic baby for little Jesus, but Catherine Hardwicke probably had a slightly bigger budget. Hard to tell if it’s any good (update: first reviews are in, and they could be better) but “The Passion Of The Christ” was rubbish and still made a fortune.
A bit like: “The Passion Of The Christ”, without all the gory bits
National Lampoon’s Van Wilder: The Rise Of Taj (trailer)
Who knew the “Van Wilder” thing would become a franchise? Especially one big enough to lose it’s star (Ryan Reynolds) and still make a sequel. This time round it’s Wilder’s star student Taj (Kal Pann, the funny guy from “Harold & Kumar Go To Whitecastle” who looks like an Indian Zach Braff) having all the fun. He enrols at an English University and teaches the kids there how to have fun. Looks dreadful.
A bit like: “Harold & Kumar Go To Whitecastle” without Harold, poor guy.
Turistas (trailer)
Dear Mom and Dad,
Backpacking in Brazil was going great. Met lots of friends, spent lots of time at the beach and having lots of fun nights out. But then someone drugged us, stole all our stuff, lured us to their secluded house in the jungle and start torturing us horifically like in “Hostel” or “Saw”.
Love to you both (and tell granny I said “hi”)
Alex from “Turista”
A bit like: “The Beach” meets “Hostel”
