It looks like Oliver Stone and Sean Penn are planning to make a movie based on the My Lai massacre in 1968. It makes sense that the two politically minded stars are shedding light on the tragedy that occurred in Vietnam. Stone and Penn worked together in the largely panned, but to this viewers eyes excellent, ‘U-Turn’.
The new Stone/Penn project is entitled ‘Pinkville’. The My Lai massacre was an incident when US Army Soldiers killed 347 people including unarmed women and children in a shocking event that captured the worlds attention. Some say that the the light sentences that the convicted army officers were dealt led to weakening war crime laws that were established in the Nuremberg and Tokyo War Crimes Tribunals. Considering how overtly political both Stone and Penn are, they will probably use this movie to highlight the wars the US are involved in today.

Hey, instead why don’t they make a movie about the one million+ Vietnamese who died after(because) we pulled out of Vietnam due to all the public protest concerning the war?
Oh yeah, that’s right… they wouldn’t.

Hopefully their collabaration will be as successful critically and financially as their recent projects Alexander The Great and The Interpreter.
