Sometimes it’s the smallest pieces that are the most interesting, and even I have to admit that Northeastern, a small YouTube short, definitely caught my attention.
Called a “thrown together” movie for a school project, what this is is actually a movie within a movie as the first part, a mythical cable show on a mythical Time Warner network, introduces the second part, a fairly simplistic zombie movie.
But despite the fact that the plot is very simple in nature, and the zombie movie portion is in black and white, oddly enough, the whole actually manages to be fairly nerve wracking thanks to an extremely well selected score.
It’s surprisingly good, if really, really simple, and that makes it a strange sort of movie to cover. It’ll be done in a heartbeat but you’ll likely enjoy it, thus the Screenhead Ten Scale gives this quick little terror an eight out of ten for being surprisingly effective with virtually no budget or resources to speak of.
