Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron star and the production stills look grim and bleak -- typical of McCarthy yarns. "Stand out" might be more in order for such a movie. No Country wasn't necessarily a "highlight" but "stood out" as a well-made film to win kudos. Keep in mind that the Coen brothers creative juices are in a different vein of expression than Hillcoat. Perhaps, based on The Propostion, Hillcoat knows how to give freedom to creative people, so the end product is award winning. Thus, I ask: Why didn't Hillcoat win best director at the Australia Film Institute?
