Summit Entertainment announced today that New Moon-sequel to Twilight–will be released on November 20, 2009. Film goes up against a bevy of titles, including Warner Bros.’ Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law; MGM’s untitled Three Stooges project; and Sony animated Planet 51.
There is a new director in the light of the entire announcement. Chris Weitz is taking the project on as the director. This comes on the heels of news that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke is officially out as director of New Moon, with Chris Weitz boarding the project. Stephenie Meyer wrote a letter to her fans explaining the decision.
