Madonna’s hubby Guy Ritchie has a not-so-new film (it was released in the UK in 2005) about ready to hit US theaters – “Revolver”. Starring in the film are Jason Statham, Ray Liotta, Vincent Pastore, and Andre Benjamin. It’ll be at theaters throughout the US beginning December 7th, which is just a few weeks away.
The star character of the film is Jake Green, played by Statham, who always ran with a bad crowd. The company he kept eventually cost him seven years in jail. Following his release, Jake becomes unbeatable at the tables using a formula for the ultimate con that he learned from two mysterious prisoners while behind bars. And now that he’s on the loose, Jake is ready to take revenge on Dorothy Macha (Liotta), the man who is responsible for his stint in jail. Meanwhile, Macha is planning to take out his rival, Lord John, and has staked his credibility on a massive drug deal with the almight Sam Gold.
Jake visits Macha at his casino, and subjects him to public humiliation as he beats him in a game of chance. Fearing more of the same, he sends his guys to go “take care of” Jake. Jake, however, is saved by Zack (Pastore), who along with partner Avi (Benjamin), offer Jake protection.
Going against his gut instincts, Jake accepts Zack and Avi’s offer of protection, and soon finds himself playing the last game he wants to be playing. Danger awaits him at every turn, but the biggest danger of all comes from completely unexpected source – himself.
Drugs, gambling, fights, and murder attempts. All the film needs are some half naked people running around and a little sex, and it’s got it all. Though we do hear its pretty violent.

I saw this movie when it originally came out and I must say that I was a bit disappointed. The movie is of the same mold as “Snatch” and “Lock, Stock..” but unlike those two classics Guy comes of pretentious in this movie. The plot twists came of looking forced and really makes no sense in the end. Know that i think about it the storyline itself was really annoying also

I picked up the film as a VCD in Thailand. There is some interesting stuff going on but while my Significant Other loved the film (I picked it up for her cos she loves Jason Stathan), I fell asleep both times I watched it.
