Reuters reports that R&B singer Ne-Yo will star in, executive produce and write the soundtrack for Venice Beach, an upcoming music-driven romance in development at Fox Atomic.

The script is being penned by Duane Adler (Step Up) who will tell the story of an 18-year old Manhattan Beach woman who, after her older sister dies in an accident, represses her singing talent until she meets a gifted musician (Ne-Yo) from Venice Beach.

Paul Hunter is in talks to direct the film.
